Schools

Learning to balance on a bike is a right of passage. It opens a world of possibilities for tamariki whether it’s a more independent mode to explore the neighbourhood or a lifetime of active recreation.

BikeReady Courses

We operate a program called BikeReady made possible by central and local government.

The programme allows teachers and students to explore well being, empathy, the transport system and active citizenship.

BikeReady aligns with the New Zealand Curriculum, physical activity guidelines and the National Administration Guidelines.

  • For tamariki in Years 5 and 6 classes
we run a 3 hour lesson in the school grounds.

  • For rangatahi in Years 7 and 8 classes
we run a 7.5 hour lesson in the school grounds and local roads.

In both cases we bring along qualified guides and up to 30 bicycles and helmets. In recent years we have also started to apply the BikeReady principles to scooters.
